Connecting to the COSMIC desktop environment on Pop!_OS may show a white screen or a 'Connection reset by peer' error.

Investigations showed that the default capture method isn't functional with COSMIC running on Wayland. The connection does still work correctly in the machines where the DRM fallback method is possible, provided the DRM method is supported by the graphics drivers.

Possible workarounds are disabling Wayland or switching to a different desktop environment.
