Reports on how NX works in combination with Antivirus/Firewall tools
The following products have been tested with NX 3.5.0 installations:
- ZoneAlarm FireWall 7.0.483
- PCTools ThreatFire 4.0
- PCTools Firewall Plus 4.0
- TrendMicro Internet Security 2009
- McAfee
Both, ZoneAlarm FireWall and PCTools ThreatFire, did not prevent NX from working properly in any way - even with very restricting settings. However it is necessary to allow connections from/to the NX components, but this is obvious and applies to all (Personal-)Firewalls.
With PCTools Firewall Plus several attempts were needed to train the firewall rules. But once all the permissions are defined, NX works just fine.
TrendMicro Internet Security did not work at all, i.e. it lead the whole WinXP freeze right after booting (no chance to login). Therefore, no further test results are available.
As a summary, no major issues were found with any of the products listed above (except TrendMicro, but this is not NX related).
McAfee can interfere with the client connection which can lead to possible time outs.
Updates
It has been reported that ClamAV is producing a false positive:

A ticket has been opened and is now in the hands of ClamAV developers.
