What can I do if fullscreen on multiple monitors is not working as expected with NX Client 3.4.0 for Linux
Version 3.4.0-14 of NX Node provides an X11 agent (nxagent-3.4.0-11) which supports 2 different modes for visualizing the NX session window when sent to full screen with multi-monitors: either a single monitor is covered, or all available monitors are completely filled.
(Note: Previous versions of the X11 agent only supported fullscreen covering all monitors. )
Fullscreen modes work properly with the following window managers:
- Metacity from v. 2.26.
- Compiz from v. 0.8
- KWin from v. 4.2
- Xfwm from v. 4.6.0
It has been verified that with version NX 3.4.0-14, Linux clients running less recent window managers may have problems visualizing full screen mode over all monitors. There are no issues with full screen over one monitor.
A possible solution when the NX window at fullscreen over all monitors doesn't work is to update the window manager version.
Later versions of NX Node
After having evaluated user feedback, NoMachine will be updating the behaviour of its nxagent 3.4.0 in order to seamlessly support less recent Linux distributions. Therefore, NX Node packages later than 3.4.0-14 will provide an X11 agent which supports a fullscreen session window covering all monitors for window managers of less recent distributions.
The recently implemented behavior, i.e. fullscreen over one monitor, will remain unaffected.
Activating full-screen mode
On Linux clients, it is possible to activate the different modes according to the following schema:
- Starting a session at full screen will spread the NX window over all monitors.
- Combining Ctrl+Alt+F keystroke switches the mode "full screen over all monitors" on and off.
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F switches mode "full screen over a single monitor" on and off.
