Mac connections to OS X 10.5 and 10.6 are slow when connecting to a headless machine

Mac OS X turns HW acceleration of the display off when the machine has no display attached. This will result in extremely slow display updates and very low frame rate, since returning the display content from the operating system may require up to 200 milliseconds for every single display frame.

To overcome the problem, users must attach a physical display to the physical display output or purchase one of the fake display connectors that let the operating system detect that a display is attached.

Note:

Due to the changes introduced by Apple which has dropped support for 10.5 and 10.6 in recent compilers, NoMachine has discontinued support for those OS X versions. It will still be possible to request packages specifically built for 10.5 and 10.6 under the provisions of a support contract.
