NX has provided support for the GLX extension in the X11 agent since 1.5.0. This support is for GLX version 1.2 or earlier.

This can be checked by running

# xdpyinfo | grep GLX

in a terminal window. And tested by running

# glxgears

NX uses indirect rendering to use the  X protocol for performing drawing
operations.

Support for the  GLX extension in the agent is not a layer on the top OpenGL as with the Xgl architecture that usually is requested by composite managers like Beryl and Compiz.

Please note that running a composite manager requires the Composite extension which is not currently supported by the NX agent at the moment.
