How to manually gather NoMachine client logs from Android devices

How to gather logs of NoMachine client on Android devices

This procedure applies to NoMachine v8 and can be used also for v9. However, a simplified procedure is available for v9.

Try to connect to the server via NoMachine and reproduce the problem. Don't close the session or the client, if the problem occurs before establishing the session.

While reproducing the problem, look for the .nx directory on your device:

1. Use a file browser that allows to access /Android/data/com.nomachine.nxplayer/files/.nx/

    or:

2. Check if the .nx/ directory exists in the disk root or in the sdcard directory.

Once you found the .nx/ directory, compress all the sub-directories named with prefix "R-" by using any of the compression utilities usually available with the file browser. We recommend the official Google file browser, but there are also some alternatives.

Share the compressed log archive to us via e-mail.

Otherwise, if you don't have a tool to compress directories, enter the R- directory and share all files that are inside that directory by sending them to us by e-mail.

If the .nx/ directory is not available in any of the paths listed in 1. and 2., it means that the application created it in its private directory and logs are therefore not accessible.

How to send a crash report

Pre-requisite is that the NoMachine client has been installed from the Google Play Store.

When a crash occurs, users are prompted with a dialog reporting:

Unfortunately, NoMachine has stopped.

Click on the 'Report' button to send us the crash report. This will help us to debug and fix the problem!
