How to configure printing from your Linux client

To enable the printing option on your NX Client for Linux please follow the steps below. By default, printers are shared by CUPS or SMB.

  • Enable printing support in your session

Start NX Client; the 'Login' dialog appears.

From the list in the select box select the Linux session for which you want to enable printing support.

Click on the 'Configure' button to open the session configuration window.

In the new window click on the 'Services' tab.

Make sure that the 'Enable printer and file sharing' box has been checked.

Click on the 'Add' button. A dialog with a list of shared printers appears.

From the dialog select the printer you have chosen to share.

Eventually specify a username and password that will be used when connecting to your printer.

Repeat the procedure for all the printers you want to share.

Click on the 'Save' and then 'Ok' buttons when you have configured all your printers to return to the 'Login' dialog.

On the next logon your printers should be correctly shared and ready to use. You can now start your session by clicking on the 'Login' button.

You should ask your administrator of your NX server to install the CUPS drivers appropriate for your printer model.
