USB driver problems on Mavericks OS X 10.9 and NoMachine prior to 4.0.362
This article applies to NoMachine versions prior to 4.0.362 only.
Some users have reported to be getting kernel panics on MacBook Pro 9.1 after a Mac OS X 10.8 software upgrade. Such crashes are related to USB drivers, as reported in the diagnostic report.
Users can keep using NoMachine as long as the USB driver is disabled.
To do that, unload and remove USB services on Mac OS X by executing the following commands from a terminal:
$sudo launchctl load -w /Applications/NoMachine.app/Contents/Resources/com.nomachine.nxusb.plist
$sudo rm /Applications/NoMachine.app/Contents/Frameworks/bin/nxusbd
$sudo rm -rf "/Library/Application Support/NoMachine/Extensions/nxusb.kext"
We are investigating the problem and a solution should be available soon. In the meantime when installing NoMachine on a Mac computer running OS X 10.9, the installer will automatically disable the driver .
This unfortunately doesn't solve the problem for machines upgraded from previous versions of OS X. On these machines users will have to disable the driver using the instructions provided here.
On OS X 10.9, the installer will automatically disable the driver without prompting the user.
