Fast and secure access to the remote computer with Guest Desktop Sharing

Do you need remote assistance or want to show something on your screen to your colleagues. Maybe you work with pair programming? Are you a University and want your students to access the Campus computers from remote?

NoMachine provides a new quick and secure feature to share the remote desktop. You just need to install a NoMachine server on the remote computer and enable the new Guest Desktop Sharing feature. Give the IP of your computer to the user who needs to access your desktop and accept their connection request. That's all!

Who is it for?
Everyone who needs to share their desktop, files and folders with someone else. For personal use (e.g. assist a family member or a friend) or for business (provide remote assistance, execute maintenance operations on the remote computers and so on) or as a collaborative tool at work (desktop sharing, pair programming etc).

What is it for?
Providing attended access to the desktop of a remote computer without having to create an account for the connecting user (guest) or distributing login credentials. The connection request must always be accepted by the desktop owner, who can provide full interactive access (ideal for remote help) or view-only access (advisable for presentations, lessons and each time the guest doesn't need to take control of input devices like mouse and keyboard).

Key features

  • - Attended access upon the approval of the desktop owner
  • - End-to-end data traffic encryption
  • - No account needed
  • - Full control of the remote desktop and complete access to resources or view-only mode

What do you need?
For personal use, install NoMachine on the remote computer to provide Guest Desktop Sharing access. If this functionality is needed to carry out business activities, it's necessary to install a licensed server product like NoMachine Enterprise Desktop.

The guest has to install NoMachine Enterprise Client installed on its device (it's free to use) or use a browser to connect.

When prompted with the login form, select 'Request access as a guest user':

How does it work?
Guest Desktop Sharing is perfectly safe since the guest will never able to connect to your desktop without your approval, this feature is available with all NoMachine products, including the free version and it's possible to use it also to share Linux virtual desktops.

Guests don't need an account to be able to connect to your machine, it's up to you to accept or refuse a connection request to your desktop.

To enable guest desktop sharing on your computer, open the !M UI and go to Settings -> Server -> Security and check the 'Allow guest desktop sharing access on this host' checkbox.

Guest Desktop Sharing is enabled by default in NoMachine free and disabled by default in all the other server products.
