NX 4 Second Preview Release Announcement
ROME, Italy, December 24, 2010 - NoMachine makes available a second preview of NX 4. The release doesn't add new functionalities, compared to the first preview, but fixes some of the most annoying bugs present in the first preview. Among the changes are:
- Fixed the detection of an existing installation of version 3. Now the package won't install until the previous version is removed.
- The NX Web Player navigation has been simplified to let users connect immediately to the local server.
- The NX server is now configured by default to allow a connection to an existing desktop without requiring the owner's authorization. This is an unsecure setup aimed at simplify tests. Users willing to go beyond the casual use of the preview are strongly invited to change the following settings in the server.cfg file:
EnableAdministratorDesktopSharing=0
EnableDesktopSharingAutorization=1
EnableSystemDesktopSharingAutorization=1 - Sparse bug fixes, resolving a few crashes in the core components.

Important Notes
- Please note that the quality of the software is sub-alpha and it is not intended to replace the stable 3 releases in any way yet. Note also that most features introduced in the new Player depend on the presence of the NX 4 installation on the server. If you want to get a real sense of what NX 4 will be, please be sure you install the NX Player on the client and the NX Virtual Desktop Workstation on the computer you want to access from remote.
- The packages and libraries comprising a NX 4 installation contain significant differences, compared to version 3. The final release will contain scripts guiding the user through the upgrade process. At the moment, to install the preview, it is required that you first uninstall any previous NX 3 setup. Detailed instructions on how to backup the previous installation and proceed to the upgrade can be found here. Any further upgrade of the 4 packages should not present any problem.
- Compatibility between the 3 and the 4 will be fully preserved. There may be bugs when connecting with a client 3 to a server 4 and viceversa. These bugs will be resolved in the final release.

How to Install the NX Packages
NX Virtual Desktop Workstation for Linux

Please note that the installation comes with a self- signed SSL certificate intended to be a sample. This doesn't grant a secure connection.
