Updates to the NX 4 Preview 2 are Available
ROME, Italy, December 30, 2010 - NoMachine has released new packages
for Linux 32 bit and 64 bit to solve a number of problems affecting the
Second Preview of NX 4. The main issues that have been fixed are:
- Packages are not compatible with Linux versions not shipped with glibcxx version 3.4.9 such as Red Hat 4 and 5.
- Some nxserver processes may be left running when the session has terminated.
- Sessions may be marked as Failed when they are in status Disconnecting.
- NX Node can crash when the nxagent process terminates in an unexpected way.
- Version of the hosting operating system is not displayed in the Info tab provided by the utility toolbar inside the NX session.
- A session can fail to start with NX Web Player if the session name contains a '-' character.

Important Notes
- Please
note that the quality of the software is sub-alpha and it is not
intended to replace the stable 3 releases in any way yet. Note also that
most features introduced in the new Player depend on the presence of
the NX 4 installation on the server. If you want to get a real sense of
what NX 4 will be, please be sure you install the NX Player on the
client and the NX Virtual Desktop Workstation on the computer you want
to access from remote.
- The
packages and libraries comprising a NX 4 installation contain
significant differences, compared to version 3. The final release will
contain scripts guiding the user through the upgrade process. At the
moment, to install the preview, it is required that you first uninstall
any previous NX 3 setup. Detailed instructions on how to backup the
previous installation and proceed to the upgrade can be found here. Any further upgrade of the 4 packages should not present any problem. - Compatibility
between the 3 and the 4 will be fully preserved. There may be bugs
when connecting with a client 3 to a server 4 and viceversa. These bugs
will be resolved in the final release.
